Job Description

Justteachers is recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a specialist school in the Blackpool area on a long‑term basis. The full‑time post is due to start in June 2026, with shortlisting currently taking place. The school provides a highly structured, nurturing and therapeutic environment, supporting pupils with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. There is a strong focus on safeguarding, positive relationships and helping pupils develop safe behaviours and emotional understanding.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex behavioural and emotional needs
  • Supporting the implementation of detailed behaviour and safeguarding plans
  • Working closely with teaching staff, safeguarding leads and external professionals to promote positive outcomes and safe behaviours

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications or experience supporting pupils with complex behavioural or SEMH needs
  • Proven experience working in a 1:1 role within an educational or specialist setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management and trauma‑informed approaches
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries and follow robust safeguarding procedures
  • Two education or school‑based references
