Job Description:

Bewbush Academy is seeking a compassionate, reliable and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide focused, consistent support for a pupil with significant SEND needs, including Autism. This is a highly rewarding position supporting a child who requires a calm, patient and structured approach to feel safe, regulated and ready to learn. The role will initially be one hour per day, with the potential to increase as the pupil’s needs and timetable develop.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide daily 1:1 support for a pupil with severe Autism and complex SEND needs
  • Follow strategies recommended by the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals
  • Support emotional regulation, communication, sensory needs and transitions
  • Use calm, consistent and nurturing behaviour-support approaches
  • Assist with personalised learning activities tailored to the pupil’s EHCP
  • Work as part of a supportive inclusion team who will guide and advise you
  • Help maintain a safe, structured and predictable environment for the child

Requirements:

  • Recent school experience (within the last 2–3 years)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism (essential)
  • A calm, patient and positive approach
  • Someone reliable, consistent and able to build trust
  • Ability to follow guidance from specialist staff
  • Strong communication with teachers, parents and colleagues
  • A genuine passion for helping children thrive
