Job Description:

Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Support Worker to work with a Year 4 student in an alternative provision setting. The role will focus on supporting a child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges, providing tailored support to help them access learning and thrive within the school environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day
  • Support the child’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the wider team to deliver a personalised learning plan
  • Build positive relationships with the student to promote engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Monitor progress and report observations to the SENCO or class teacher
  • Support inclusion within the classroom and wider school activities

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Patience, resilience, and excellent behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection
  • Flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting individual needs
