Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Support Worker to work with a Year 4 student in an alternative provision setting. The role will focus on supporting a child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges, providing tailored support to help them access learning and thrive within the school environment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide consistent 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day
Support the child’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively
Work closely with teaching staff and the wider team to deliver a personalised learning plan
Build positive relationships with the student to promote engagement, confidence, and independence
Monitor progress and report observations to the SENCO or class teacher
Support inclusion within the classroom and wider school activities
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEMH or challenging behaviour
Patience, resilience, and excellent behaviour management skills
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection
Flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting individual needs
