Job Description

Justteachers are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Support Staff member to join a welcoming school in Altrincham. This rewarding role involves providing focused, individual support to a pupil who requires additional assistance to fully engage with their learning and school environment. You will play a key role in helping the pupil build confidence, develop independence, and make meaningful progress both academically and socially. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning and behavioural strategies that meet the pupil’s specific needs. This role requires patience, consistency, and a nurturing approach, as well as the ability to build a strong, positive relationship with the pupil to support their overall development and wellbeing.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs
  • Assist with the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans
  • Adapt learning materials to suit the pupil’s abilities and learning style
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and parents/carers

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a 1:1 or SEND setting (preferred)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to support and manage behaviour positively
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Teaching Assistant Level 2/3) or willingness to obtain
