Are you a compassionate, dedicated, and naturally empathetic individual looking for a role where you can truly measure your impact one-to-one? Can you provide the consistent, personalised support a child needs to navigate their school day, overcome barriers, and build confidence? Whether you are an experienced SEN specialist or a graduate looking to step into educational psychology or speech therapy, your unique skills are needed here. We are seeking a compassionate and resilient 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position. Unlike general classroom roles, this position is uniquely focused on the development, safety, and progress of one specific student. You will become their champion, their steady anchor in the classroom, and their primary guide as they work towards their individual academic and emotional goals.
Job Responsibility
Bespoke 1:1 Support: Accompany your designated pupil throughout the school day, adapting classroom tasks in real-time to match their specific learning pace and cognitive needs
EHCP Implementation: Closely follow and implement the targets set out in the student's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), keeping detailed logs of their daily breakthroughs and challenges
Communication & Sensory Scaffolding: Utilise specialised tools (such as visual schedules, Now-and-Next boards, or PECS) to reduce anxiety and help the student transition smoothly between lessons
Emotional Regulation: Act as a proactive mentor, recognising early signs of frustration or sensory overload, and utilising gentle de-escalation or sensory breaks before behaviours escalate
Inclusion Facilitation: Bridge the social gap by helping your student interact positively with their peers during break times and group work, fostering true classroom inclusion
Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work as part of a dedicated circle of care, collaborating closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, parents, and external therapists (e.g., Speech & Language or Occupational Therapists)
