Job Responsibility:
Work closely with the class teacher to support a child’s learning, progress and wellbeing
Promote independence, confidence and positive self‑esteem
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group help, enabling full access to the curriculum
Use tailored strategies to meet needs identified within the child’s EHCP/IEP
Support inclusion, ensuring the pupil can participate fully in classroom and wider school life
Adapt learning tasks, scaffold activities and help reduce barriers to learning
Use consistent and therapeutic behaviour‑support approaches
Prepare and organise resources to create an engaging, accessible learning environment
Support with note‑taking, observations and feeding back to the class teacher
Use assistive technology or adapted resources to help the pupil access learning
Work collaboratively with class teachers, support staff, parents, carers, and external agencies
Contribute to reviews, share observations, and help ensure everyone involved has accurate information to support the child’s progress
Follow all safeguarding guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, and help promote a secure, caring and supportive environment
