Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a caring and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Stretford from September 2026. This role will involve supporting a primary-aged pupil on a one-to-one basis within a specialist classroom environment. The school supports children with a range of additional needs including Autism, communication difficulties and complex learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive impact on a child's educational journey.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with additional learning needs
  • Support the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
  • Encourage engagement, independence and social development
  • Implement behaviour and communication strategies consistently
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and sensory needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and parents
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and wellbeing
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD or additional learning needs
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Relevant TA qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
