Counter management: ensuring an attractive presentation of products
filling in where needed and checking freshness
Preparation: helping with slicing charcuterie, packaging salads and preparing simple daily dishes or breads
Hygiene: strictly adhering to HACCP standards
a clean working environment and clean machines are a given
Advice: giving customers tips on preparing our products
Presentation: responsible for an attractive, full and commercial presentation of the counter (meat, charcuterie and catering)
Stock monitoring: signaling shortages in time and independently replenishing products from the cooling or work area
Rotation management: strictly applying the FIFO method (First-In, First-Out) to guarantee freshness and minimize spoilage (loss)
Expertise: advising customers on the assortment, portion sizes and preparation methods of different types of meat
Orders: taking specific orders (e.g., for holidays or barbecues) and ensuring they are correctly noted for the butchers
Handling: operating the scale and cash register systems flawlessly and ensuring smooth flow at the fresh food department
Slicing: slicing fine cold cuts, cheeses and charcuterie to size with the slicer, with an eye for the right thickness and presentation
Simple preparations: independently preparing simple dishes such as salads, breads or daily dishes according to the shop's recipes
Hygiene control: responsible for daily cleaning and disinfection of machines, worktops and counters according to the cleaning plan
Registration: performing necessary checks (such as temperature measurements) and accurately filling in the associated HACCP lists
Freshness control: daily checking expiry dates (THT/TGT) and the external quality of the presented products
Efficiency: ensuring smooth cooperation with the butchers in the work area, so the transition from production to sales is seamless
Tidiness: keeping the work area behind the counter organized and safe at all times.
Vereisten:
Recent and relevant work experience in a butcher shop or on a specialized fresh food department (charcuterie/cheese)
Fully familiar with the operations behind the counter
no extra explanation needed on how to serve customers or note orders
Proficient and safe operation of a professional electric slicing machine
Sharp eye for counter layout (arranging cold cuts, presenting salads) to stimulate sales
Knowledge of different types of meat, charcuterie and cheeses
can advise customers on origin, taste and preparation tips
Fully aware of food safety legislation and strictly applies it (temperature controls, cleaning of materials, personal hygiene)
Works cleanly and structured, even during peak times
Immediate deployability
a 'doer' who can immediately join the team without intensive guidance
Socially skilled, fluent in Dutch and radiates professionalism to customers in Stekene
Willing to work according to the shop schedule, including early shifts and weekend work.
