They also oversee the delivery of Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education, coordinating lessons on topics like online safety, healthy relationships, and resilience. Crucially, they act as a bridge between the school and external agencies, such as social services, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), and the local authority, ensuring vulnerable students receive the specialist support they need. In many schools, they also manage the process for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring that personal support plans are properly implemented across the school day.
