A Senior Manager, Launch Sales is a pivotal leadership role designed to orchestrate and execute the commercial success of new product, service, or location introductions. This profession sits at the critical intersection of sales strategy, operational execution, and cross-functional leadership, ensuring a new venture hits the ground running with strong initial revenue and market penetration. Professionals in these jobs are the architects of the go-to-market (GTM) sales plan, transforming pre-launch demand into tangible, signed business from day one. Typically, individuals in this role are responsible for the entire commercial launch lifecycle. They develop and own the launch sales playbook, establishing standardized processes for lead management, touring, proposal generation, and closing to ensure consistency and speed across all new openings. A core duty involves building, training, and directly coaching a dedicated launch sales cohort, instilling specific messaging, discovery techniques, and a customer-first sales motion tailored to the new offering. They work hand-in-hand with Marketing to align on target customer archetypes, campaign activation, and lead flow, and with Operations to ensure inventory, pricing, and physical readiness are perfectly synchronized for the launch date. Common day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring real-time sales metrics and service level agreements (SLAs), conducting daily sales huddles, and providing on-the-floor coaching during critical launch periods. They run cross-functional launch meetings, manage launch calendars, and are accountable for forecasting early performance while making data-driven pivots as needed. Post-launch, they analyze results, document learnings, and formally hand off a stabilized sales pipeline to the ongoing regional or operational management team, thereby creating a repeatable model for future launches. The typical skill set for these jobs requires a unique blend of strategic vision and tactical grit. Candidates generally need 6-10 years of experience in high-velocity, complex sales environments, such as commercial real estate, SaaS, or retail expansion, with a proven record of quota attainment. Exceptional cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence without direct authority are paramount. They must be clear, concise communicators capable of briefing executives and coaching sales reps with equal effectiveness. A builder’s mentality is essential to create scalable processes and training programs. Key requirements also include a strong analytical ability to track performance via launch scorecards, a bias for action, high emotional intelligence, and a willingness to travel frequently to support launches in various markets. For sales leaders who thrive on the adrenaline of a start-up environment within an established organization, Senior Manager, Launch Sales jobs offer a dynamic and high-impact career path focused on commercializing innovation.
