About the Reliability Embedded Engineer role

A Reliability Embedded Engineer is a specialized professional who bridges the gap between advanced automation systems and real-world operational performance. These engineers are embedded directly within client facilities, acting as the primary technical liaison responsible for ensuring that complex machinery and automated systems deliver consistent, high-performance output over their entire lifecycle. The role is deeply hands-on, combining deep technical knowledge with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

The core mission of a Reliability Embedded Engineer is to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. This involves a proactive approach to maintenance, including performing scheduled inspections, executing preventive maintenance plans, and implementing condition-based monitoring strategies to identify potential failures before they occur. When systems do experience faults, these engineers are responsible for rapid diagnosis and corrective maintenance, performing troubleshooting on complex electromechanical systems to restore performance quickly. They meticulously document all activities, findings, and system performance metrics, providing critical reports to both internal teams and client stakeholders.

Daily responsibilities extend far beyond technical repair. A Reliability Embedded Engineer serves as the on-site expert, coordinating with cross-functional corporate teams to solve problems, manage spare parts inventory, and facilitate remote and on-site operations. They are the trusted point of contact for the client, building strong relationships based on technical competence and daily commitment. This includes participating in regular meetings with client leadership, escalating anomalies, and proactively proposing solutions and system improvements. A significant part of the role involves training client personnel, ensuring that customer teams can operate and maintain the equipment effectively. They also manage safety and security documentation, maintain a clean and organized work area, and oversee tool inventory.

To succeed in these roles, a candidate typically needs a bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field, though equivalent experience in industrial maintenance is highly valued. Employers look for professionals with several years of hands-on experience in industries involving material handling, packaging equipment, robotics, and automation. A strong technical foundation is essential, including practical understanding of PLCs, industrial PCs, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and electromechanical systems. Certifications like Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT) are highly preferred. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP and customer relationship management (CRM) tools is often required. Beyond technical skills, the ideal candidate possesses strong analytical abilities, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a genuine passion for customer service. They must be change agents, comfortable working in dynamic environments and dedicated to driving continuous improvement. The demand for these specialized reliability embedded engineer jobs continues to grow as industries increasingly rely on automated systems to maintain productivity and quality standards.
