A CTI Business Execution Lead job represents a critical and high-impact career path at the intersection of financial operations, risk management, and strategic execution within a corporate treasury or investment function. CTI, which stands for Corporate Treasury Investments, is a specialized area, and professionals in these roles are essential for ensuring the seamless and controlled operation of a firm's investment activities. These jobs are not about making investment decisions but are fundamentally about enabling and overseeing the business processes that support those decisions, acting as the operational backbone of the treasury unit. Individuals in these roles are typically responsible for a wide array of business execution activities. A core part of their day involves the meticulous monitoring and affirmation of the portfolio's performance. This includes daily analysis of Profit & Loss (P&L), Economic Value, and various risk metrics for a range of instruments such as securities, derivatives, and funding products. They perform in-depth attribution analysis to explain daily P&L movements, breaking them down into constituent risk factors to provide transparency to traders and senior management. Beyond daily metrics, CTI Business Execution Leads are custodians of the control environment. They are tasked with developing, refining, and enforcing policies, procedures, and trading mandates to ensure strict compliance with internal and regulatory standards. This often involves leading the response to internal and external audits and managing the Manager's Control Assessment (MCA) framework. A significant aspect of these jobs is cross-functional leadership and collaboration. The role requires constant interaction with a diverse set of stakeholders, including Front Office trading desks, Product Control, Finance (FP&A), Operations, Technology, Legal, and Compliance. The Lead acts as a central point of contact, bridging gaps between these groups to resolve issues, drive industry initiatives, and implement data or system enhancements. They are often the go-to experts for real-time analytical support and problem-solving. Furthermore, a proactive focus on process improvement is a hallmark of this profession. These professionals are expected to identify inefficiencies in existing infrastructure and workflows, championing projects to automate reporting, enhance data quality, and build robust analytical tools that convert complex data sets into actionable business intelligence. The typical skill set for CTI Business Execution Lead jobs is both deep and broad. A comprehensive understanding of financial products—including fixed income securities, derivatives, and debt instruments—is non-negotiable. Strong accounting knowledge, particularly regarding the treatment of financial instruments (e.g., Mark-to-Market, Held-to-Maturity, Available-for-Sale), is highly valued. Candidates usually possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in roles such as Product Control, Financial Analysis, Middle Office, or Treasury within a complex financial organization. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills are paramount, often complemented by technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with programming skills in VBA, Python, or SQL being a significant advantage. Finally, superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role demands the ability to clearly articulate complex issues, influence senior leaders, and build strong partnerships across the organization to achieve shared strategic goals.
