A Cloud Engineer's typical responsibilities are diverse and multifaceted. They are primarily responsible for architecting and deploying cloud infrastructure, which includes virtual networks, storage accounts, and computing resources. A significant part of their day-to-day work involves leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate the provisioning and management of resources, ensuring consistency and repeatability. They also design for security and compliance, implementing identity and access management policies, encryption, and network security controls to protect sensitive data. Furthermore, Cloud Engineers are instrumental in ensuring system reliability and performance. They set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to gain observability into the health of applications and infrastructure, often using tools like Prometheus or cloud-native services.
