Laboratory technician

• Preparation and wet chemistry analyses of raw material and finished product malt samples
• Ensuring preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with Boortmalt Standard Methods
• Participation in laboratory proficiency testing schemes
• Calibration and maintenance of analytical instrumentation and their accessories
• Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour and undertaking subsequent investigations
• Management of reporting, record keeping and investigations of non-conformances
• Ensuring compliance with Boortmalt Good Laboratory Practices
• Ensuring compliance with Boortmalt EHS requirements and required training

• Degree, preferable higher degree in agriculture, food science, chemistry or related discipline
• Analytical and detailed
• Ability to quickly respond to and resolve issues
• Ability to connect with people in various levels of the organisation
• Good time management skills
• High level of computer literacy
• High adaptability and capacity for change
• Comfortable communicating and operating in a team environment
• Practical laboratory experience with a quality focus
• Experience in the calibration, maintenance and trouble shooting with laboratory instruments
